Showers Soak Sands!

Plover, WI - The 2005
racing season has been plagued by poor weather conditions, as the third racing program of
the 2005 season has fallen to weather. Showers rolled into the area in the
mid-afternoon and continued for the next couple hours. The track decided to call off
the program, looking to make up the event later in the 2005 season.
Hit and miss rain continued to dampen the raceway throughout the balance of the
evening.
The next event on the 2005 schedule will be held on Memorial Day.
The Midwest's Finest Super Late Model competitors flay around a
high banked third-mile oval? The Golden Sands Speedway Memorial 100 has become
a traditional stop on the Wisconsin Challenge Series circuit and the events held by the
series on the Central Wisconsin oval have had some memorable outcomes. Be it wild
finishes, racing in extreme heat or racing to beat impending thunderstorms, the Wisconsin
Challenge Series events have been talked about by many race fans.
The next opportunity to add to the storied WCS events at the
raceway will be on Memorial Day which is Monday, May 30th. The mid-afternoon program will
feature the, Wisconsin Challenge series Super Late Models and a host of other entertaining
classes.
Pit gates will open at 10:00 a.m., with practice beginning at
10:30 a.m. The all important qualifying will take place at 12:30 p.m. Racing
activities will begin at 2:00 p.m. The highlight of the day will be a 100 lap
feature contest, and as usual twin 30 lap qualifying races will be very important to many
attempting to make the big show. While the Wisconsin Challenge Series Super Late
Models are the highlight of the day, entertainment will also include the Wisconsin Sport
Trucks. The snowmobile engine powered mini-pickup trucks will run a full program.
Concluding the afternoon will be the wild 2-Man Cruisers where the
full-sized cars require a driver and a co-pilot. The driver operated the steering
and the brakes while the the co-pilot works the brakes. Lastly, the behemoths of the
speedway, full sized school buses will take to the track for a action filled racing event.
The weekly Friday Night racing program will continue next Friday,
June 3rd as the raceway will present the Cruisin for a Cure program.
The show will feature Super Late Models, Suiper Stocks, Pure Stocks, 4 Cylinders
and at the conclusion of the program Spectator Drags!
Friday evening shows begin with qualifying at 6:30 p.m., and racing at 7:45 p.m.
