A record amount of fans
showed up for the last big event of the
season. Many families came to watch the
Cruiser Championships, trailer races,
stunts and the popular transformers
battle it out between good and evil.
Cruiser Championships are always held on
the last night of the season. It was a
battle for points the entire season with
most drivers being only a few points
away from each other each week. The
cruiser championships are run like any
other racing event with the drivers
lining up by time. The #44 car of
Wierzba and Wierzba took fast time with
a 15.053! The #73 of Green and Wheelock
was second in time with a 15.173 and the
#01 of Kampert and Kampert was third in
time with a 15.602.
A consi, semi-feature and feature event
was held for the Cruiser class, with one
transferring from the consi and two from
the semi. #23 of Pezewski and Auclair
won the consi transferring into the semi
feature where they finished in eleventh.
The #49 of West and Spritka took the win
in the semi feature with the #10 of
Kampert and Kluck in second. The feature
event was a great race! Tons of action
and great racing maneuvers. The #73 of
Green and Wheelock finished first with
#14 of Turzinski and Turzinski in
second. #27 of Helbach and Helbach took
third.
The cruiser champions for the 2006
racing season are #73 of Chuck Green and
Doug "Cajun" Wheelock.
Forwards/backwards races were action
packed! The race consists of two laps
forward, then two laps backward! They
ran three heats and a final. Tucker
Miller won the event with Scrubby
Sullivan in second and Jocko in third.
The kids got the treat of their life as
they got to watch real life transformers
battle it out on the track. The evil
Reptar came to take over earth, but
Galactron stopped him in his tracks! The
kids sat in awe as Galactron talked to
the crowd and battled it out with Reptar.
Wild Willy and the Wild Bunch, a bunch
of local daredevils, put on another
trailer house jumping stunt. But this
year they added even more buses before
the trailer house. Wild Willy's new
record jump was a total of 115 feet! He
didn't quite make it to the trailer
house. After getting loose on the gravel
coming up the jump his car then nose
dived into the last bus and then
plummeted to the ground! As soon as the
safety crew and ambulance came to his
aid he was out of the car waving at the
crowd! Driver was fine the car not so
good.
The Dupes of Hazzard jump was won by Rob
Johnson. Sam Shehan came in second with
Richard Lavene in third.
Scrubby Sullivan won the roll over
contest for the THIRD year in a row! Sam
Shehan finished second and Randy Panoll
in third.
The Bus races are always a crowd
favorite. This year was an exception
with Keith Wosick winning the race.
The trailer races, was a great event
once again. They had to stop the race a
couple of times to get some of the guys
that were stranded out of harms way. At
times there was so much action you
didn't know which part of the track to
watch! There were some great theme
trailers this year. Mike Curney took
first, with Mike Kaminski in second and
Bob Kerstein in third.
