Golden Sands Speedway opener falls to weather.

April 17, 2000; Plover, WI -  The scheduled Sunday afternoon season opener at Golden Sands Speedway was postponed due to bad weather as rain and cold temperatures made for unsafe racing conditions forcing a delay in the season opening events.  The McLeodUSA Mid-Am Stock Car Series 50 planned Sunday afternoon at the Golden Sands Speedway and the season opener at the track featuring late models, super stocks and pure stock was all washed out by rain and snow early in the day. The McLeodUSA Mid-Am Stock Car make-up date will be announced shortly.

The next race at the Golden Sands Speedway will be Sunday afternoon, April 30. That event will now mark the opening of the 2000 racing season at Golden Sands Speedway.  A full program of Super Late Models, Super Stocks and Pure Stocks will be on hand for the event.  Legends Cars will join the show for the program.

Weekly Friday Night racing will begin on May 5th. The speedway is located on Highway 54 between Plover and Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
