2008 Eve of Devastation!

Season Champions for the Cruiser Mod Division - #43 Steve Berg & Justin Spritka, the #43 car also won the feature for the night.

Season Champions for the Cruiser Stock Division - #50 Jesse McDonald & Jake McDonald.  The feature for the night was won by #8 Meyer & Meyer.

Forwards/Backwards Racing – First off we ran four heats advancing the top three in each heat to a final race.  The contestants ran two laps backwards and one lap forward.

Winner of the final race was Ben Capek.

Don’t Lose Your Spare Race – Cars put a tire on the hood of their car then raced backwards.  The last car with the tire still on their hood wins. Winner was Tim Firkus.

5th Turn Race (Small Cars) – This was a new event this year.  Each car had to make it’s way around the track, once they got to the start finish line they needed to go around the “5th Turn” and back around again for 5 laps.  Lots of crashes by the “5th Turn”.  Winer was Shane Seivers.

5th Turn Race (Large Cars) – Same principle as the small car race.  Winner was Scott Getzloff.

Skid Car Racing – Cars actually put skids in place of their back tires as they tried to drive around the track.  This race was more about skill than speed.  The sparks that flew looked awesome.  Joey Kuhn won, he is quiet the master of this event.

Dupes of Hazzard Jump – The furthest jumper this year was Pure Stock racer John Vanstedem.

Roll-Over Contest – Most rolls was won by a blazer driven by Dan Broton.

Bus Races – Fans love the bus races – even had a spectacular roll over and some near misses!  Winner was Gary Wosick.

Trailer Race – The crowd favorite.  Best theme this year was a Halloween boat theme by Joey Kuhn.  What a great race.  We had another pop-up camper and those are always fun to watch!  The two last contestants with trailers played a great game of cat and mouse chasing eachother all over the track, through the infield and waiting for eachother to smash off the trailers – it was a great show!  The ultimate winner was Joe Sasba.

We at Golden Sands Speedway would like to thank all the fans and participants that showed for this end of the year bash!  We would also like to thank all of our fans, drivers, and employees for a great 2008 racing season.

We look forward to seeing all of you in the 2009 racing season!
