May Mayhem
With no events run as yet, Golden Sands Speedway already had a cancellation due to weather, and postponed the May Mayhem weekend to the 14th. A few drivers were able to come, and the results of the Cruiser events saw Berg and Berg leave the competition in the dust with a time 2 seconds better than 2nd, and a finish a straightaway ahead in their first run of the year. Meyer and Schultz fended off Harvath and Coulthurst for the 2 spot.
Joey Kuhn dominated most other events, winning the Backwards/forwards race, and the 5th turn race.
Kyle Andrich decided at the last minute to join the Burnout contest, and smoked the back tires on his late model Chevy pickup enough to win that trophy.
Allen Fitzgerald took home the Spectator race trophy.
The stock car racing year opens next week with the 15th Anniversary of the Golden Sands Speedway under current owners Darrel and Shela Bassuener, bring in a new or gently used book for the United Way’s Summer Reading Drive and receive $2 off your grandstand admission for the night.
