Brewster's Triple Crown Night #1 Packs the Pits at Golden Sands Speedway.
Seven classes swelled to a 100+ car count tonight as Golden Sands began the first of the All Star Pro late models this year. 34 pros qualified, Braison Bennett's team fixed a broken trailing arm, sent him out last to qualify, and he set the fast time! The entire top 10 was only .207 apart, so the competition was unmatched. Kody Hubred slipped out to an early even qualifier win, Chase Randerson and Cole Howard also moving up to the feature. The odd qualifier saw Michael Guderski win, leading Stever Rubeck and Matt Gajewski. The "Futures" feature started a dozen non-qualifiers, and Allen Borntreger won easily. The feature start turned quickly into a single line of racers, Noah Eisenhower gamely hanging onto 2nd on the outside of Braison Bennett. An early caution put them side by side and Eisenhower faded, allowing Kendrick Kreyer to pass on the outside for the lead, Mark Eswein, Brady Bill and Ron Osborne all racing into the top 5. The top 3 were close together at the end, Osborne made his 5th place pass with 1 to go.
15 4 cylinder stock cars raced, Garrett Strachota nipped Heidi Cuff for quick time. Chase Kurth took advantage of traffic to win heat 1, Jason Wanta impressed with a heat 2 win. 14 cars started the feature, and Strachota wasted no time getting to the front. a melee mid-race put some fast cars to the back, Eric Breitenfeldt followed Strachota across the line. Ashley Schoone took 3rd, Ahead of Wanta and Jerry Bowen.
"Outlaws", the 4 cyl. mods brought 8 cars, Scott Hoeft repeated as fast timer. Cameron Kemnetz showed promise, winning the heat, and indeed broke out early to lead most of the feature ahead of Hoeft, Brad Apt, Greg Blount and Shawn Kementz.
Pure stocks made it seem like the 80s again when they put 12 cars on track, and Brandon Reidner was fastest. Tony Ciano was the heat 1 winner, Steve Schilling heat 2. The feature was a furious race, Joey Blashka using every inch of the track to try to keep the lead. In the endBrandon Reidner powered past, followed by Brett Breitenfeldt, Bo Benish, Blashka, and Schilling.
A throng of legends showed, and Robert Carter narrowly beat Ayrton Brockhouse as fast qualifier. Three heats saw Dirk Henry, Andrew Borntreger, and Devon Dierenger in victory lane. The large car count produced a B Main, and Jensen Vadnais grabbed that win. Up to 4-wide racing saw Ayrton Brockhouse deftly place 1st, Carter, Jacob Tiegan, Karl Genett (in his inaugural race) along with Elliot Weiler in the top 5.
The Bandolero kids put 14 on track, Bentley Thompson was fastest. Oliver Weinkauf won heat 1, Lincoln Johnson heat 2. No clear advantage showed in the feature, until Lincoln finally popped out front, leading Thompson, Axel Oldenhoff, Cole Kurth and Paxton Benz at the end.
The racy modifieds were a small pack, but all determined to win. Brett Wachowiacz was the fast guy, Ausin Powers won the heat. The feature was back and forth, with Brett taking the checkers.
Next Friday we are off, leading into the BIG Memorial Day Trickle 99 on Monday the 29th!
